Where we'll look first

Hurricane claims often turn on a few policy provisions. Based on what has been reported at The Moors, we will start here.

Deductible

Hurricane and named storm deductibles

Many Florida commercial policies apply a percentage deductible to wind. We confirm how yours is calculated before any number is accepted.

Trees

Debris removal and tree limits

Downed trees often fall under separate sub-limits for debris, trees and landscaping. We document each one.

Access

Blocked access and lost income

Where road access was cut off, ingress/egress, civil authority and business income coverage may respond. We review each extension and its waiting period.

Our responsibilities

  1. Review your coverageIdentify the policy's strengths, any ambiguous areas, and every sub-limit that may apply.
  2. Inspect the loss locationDetermine needed emergency measures and plan short- and long-term strategies as they relate to coverage.
  3. Meet with the insurance companyAlign on goals and coverage issues, and request meaningful emergency partial payments.
  4. Prepare building estimatesOur in-house estimators develop detailed repair estimates, including Code issues and Upgrades your policy may cover.
  5. Meet the carrier's expertsMake sure they view the loss from the same perspective, and surface disagreements before they reach their report.
  6. Inventory contentsDevelop an itemized contents inventory, if applicable.
  7. Review claim packages with youConfirm specifications and pricing with your team before anything is submitted to the carrier.
  8. Prepare Proofs of LossPrepare Sworn Statements in Proof of Loss whenever required to secure payment.
  9. Present settlement optionsBring you every offer with our recommendation, so you can make a prudent business decision.
  10. We will serve you to the conclusion of all insurance claim matters.

Next steps

  1. 01

Send us a copy of your policy. The full commercial policy with declarations and endorsements, plus any claim correspondence received so far.

    Upload your policy
  2. 02

We review your coverage. We go through the policy against the reported damage and share what we find with you.

  3. 03

Engagement agreement. If we are a good fit, we send our agreement for signature and notify your carrier that we represent you.

In the meantime, avoid agreeing to a scope or settlement amount with the carrier's adjuster.
